I found, what looks like the same case and for only $9.00 more Free shipping too.... so this one might be cheaper in the long run.

You could print a photo of the case you wanted to get and enclose a note with it saying that this is what you were going to buy but it is out of stock. Also, enclose a check or gift card and tell her she should use that to pick out another one that she likes. If you know she wants a cosmetics case already, I bet she also has her eye on the one she wants!
Overstock removed the link but you can find some relatively decent ones at Sephora or Makeup Artists Network (www.makeupart.net). Do you remember the brand name? Try to google it and if you're lucky, you might find another web site that sells the case you're looking for.
