With a few exceptions, you can't bring a guitar on board. When you make your reservation, find out what the airline's policy is for carrying guitars on board and what type of carrier the airline uses.

If perchance your guitar can make it through the teeny hole in the security scanner, and your airline doesn't allow it on the plane, have it gate checked. You CAN carry a guitar on an airplane if you get on the plane before all the overheads are full.

You might consider UPS ing it. Over night kind of. Air port luggage can be a bit harsh on things..
