Can i travel from a gun show on public transportation if I dont have ammo and have the gun in a case?

I live in a city and recently sold my car. There is an upcoming gun show in the area and Im interested in purchasing a gun for my house. Im aware of gun transport laws as they pertain to personal vehicles, but Im wondering if I can transport a weapon in a case on public transportation, assuming the case is locked and there is no ammunition.

Also, could i legally put a gun in a case for something like a guitar in order to not bring any attention to it with other passengers? Can i travel from a gun show on public transportation if I dont have ammo and have the gun in a case?
You should check with the rules of your local public transportation.

Some organizations do not allow guns on their property, so you might not be allowed to transport the gun.

Getting a ride with a friend is probably your best bet.Can i travel from a gun show on public transportation if I dont have ammo and have the gun in a case?
I don't think passengers and the driver would like you traveling with a gun, despite the fact it has no ammo, people might still feel threatened. The guitar case is a good idea but you might want to have a secret compartment or the gun covered by something when you travel, because with tighter rules after terrorist attacks, they might take the guitar case into suspicion, they have the right to go through your case.

It might just be a glimpse they could catch if the gun is covered poorly.

I suggest actually having a guitar so it doesn't look suspicious if they ask to see in the case and its empty.
